Finished Book was founded by Cindy Coloma, Tricia Goyer, Amy McDonell, and Kevin McDonell to give you the inspiration, help and courage to write that book.

Cindy Coloma (formerly Cindy Martinusen) has numerous books that she has not finished, more than she’d like to admit. Yet, she has even more that are published and shelved with pages that come to “the end.”
As a bestselling author, Cindy has written over 20 books of fiction and nonfiction as well as hundreds of articles, short stories, skits, plays, and even one completed screenplay. Some of her books had some fun goodies attached like Beautiful (2010 Christy Award Finalist for YA and 2011 Revolve YA Tour Book of the Year), The Salt Garden (2004 Library Journal’s Best Books), Song of the Brokenhearted (co-author Sheila Walsh) (2013 ECPA bestseller), Orchid House (2008 ECPA bestseller); and Winter Passing (2001 Christy Award Finalist and Romantic Times Reader’s Choice Finalist). The Waiting that Cindy coauthor with author Cathy LaGrow was featured on The Today Show, Guidepost, and The New York Post among numerous publications.
Completing a book is still not easy, and Cindy greatly enjoys helping other writers on that journey. For over eighteen years, she co-led a local writers group and she’s been a writing coach to dozens of authors. Other places where she’s encouraged writers and readers includes Mt. Hermon Christian Writers Conference, Redwood Chapel Writers Seminar, the World Book Fair in Frankfurt, Germany, Simpson University Faculty Retreat, Litt-World international conference in Tagaytay, Philippines, and many others.
With five children ranging from toddlers to adults, Cindy's life is always full of wonder and messes and the challenge to find writing space. The Finished book project teams her with new friends Amy and Kevin McDonell and with her very first writing friend and critique partner Tricia Goyer who together started in the early 90s cheering each other and their projects on to get finished.
Tricia Goyer has written more than fifty books, including novels that delight and entertain readers and non-fiction titles that offer encouragement and hope. She has also published more than 500 articles in national publications such as Guideposts, Thriving Family, Proverbs 31, and HomeLife Magazine.
Goyer’s fiction and non-fiction books have won awards from the American Christian Fiction Writers and Mt. Hermon Writers’ Conference. She is also a two-time Carol Award winner, as well as a Christy and ECPA Award Nominee.
Tricia has authored several books on family and parenting, as well as co-written with Max Lucado and Robin Jones Gunn. She collaborated with Ken Blanchard and Phil Hodges for Lead Your Family Like Jesus, published by Focus on the Family/Tyndale.
Tricia’s contemporary and historical novels feature strong women overcoming great challenges. She recreates historic wartime eras with precise detail through perseverant and comprehensive research. Tricia speaks to groups interested in these eras, with the intention of preserving and honoring the memory of the men and women who served.
She is a beloved author of Amish fiction, as well, writing the Big Sky and Seven Brides for Seven Bachelors Series.
Her love of writing and the awards and accolades she has received cannot compare with her greatest joy: her family. Tricia and the love of her life, husband John, are the parents of ten and grandparents of two. There is always fun and adventure at Goyer home, and Tricia’s grandma is right in the middle of it, having lived with Tricia and John for the past several years. Tricia homeschooled their oldest three children through high school. The Goyers make their home in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Amy McDonell is a professional freelance editor and writer in the CBA market, working with best-selling and published authors. As the owner of A Great Work Writing and Editorial Services, Amy freelances for publishing houses such as Harper Collins Christian Publishing and WaterBrook Multnomah Publishers. She also blogs at theWholeheartedMom.com, an online home where she encourages moms to become the mom they want to be by loving and living from a place of wholeness found in God alone.
Before plunging into book publishing waters, she earned graduate degrees in writing, rhetoric, and counseling. Her delight in coming alongside writers in their journey with craft and industry is rooted in Amy's first love, teaching and mentoring college writing students. Teaching is close to her heart and close to home—the kitchen table to be exact—where she spends most days homeschooling her four favorite kiddos.
Whether you're an established author or hopeful writer taking those first brave steps, Amy believes the editor-writer relationship is invaluable. She considers editors a unique kind of wordsmith, the often unsung supporting cast, offering an imperative set of experienced eyes, artistically crafting a written piece in collaboration with the author to make the work soar and the writer shine. Amy is a writer's most ardent cheerleader, inspiring them to move from fear to courage to finish that book.
Kevin McDonell is a Merchandise Manager for Mardel Christian Stores, a CBA bookstore chain that operates in the central region of the United States. Mardel is based out of Oklahoma City, OK, sharing a campus with their sister company, Hobby Lobby. The best parts of his work include buying trade books and Bibles, working with publishers, industry leaders, and especially authors.
As a retailer and veteran of the book publishing business, Kevin brings a unique perspective to the Finished Book project. He's riding the crazy waves of change brought on by digital and independent publishing, and lives to tell about it.
Kevin understands writing that book—and finishing it—requires skill and courage. But he also knows what it takes to get that book into the hands of readers who are waiting to hear your message, to discover the story only you can tell.
